> Learn to filter, sort, search, and organize your Accounts and Projects dashboards

## Overview

The Accounts and Projects dashboards provide powerful tools to organize and find exactly what you're looking for. Whether you need to filter by status, sort by date, or search by keyword, these features help you focus on what matters most.

## Searching

The search bar at the top of each dashboard allows you to quickly find accounts or projects by name or keywords:

1. Click the **search bar** at the top of the dashboard
2. Type keywords such as:
   * Account or project name
   * Client name
   * Location or address
   * Project type or specialty
3. Results update in real-time as you type
4. Click a result to jump directly to that item

#### Projects Dashboard Filters

* **Team Member** — Filter by assigned project lead

* **Due Date** — Projects due within a specific timeframe
* **Custom Fields** — Your organization's custom properties

### Applying Filters

1. Locate the **Filter Panel** (usually on the left sidebar)
2. Click on a filter category to expand it
3. Select the values you want to filter by:
   * Check boxes to include items
   * Some filters allow multiple selections
4. Click **Apply** or filters update automatically
5. Your selected filters are displayed as tags above the results

### Removing Filters

* Click the **X** on any filter tag to remove it
* Click **Clear All** to remove all active filters
* Click **Reset** to return to the default filter state

### Creating Filter Presets

Save your favorite filter combinations for quick access:

1. Set up your desired filters
2. Click **Save View** or **Save as Filter Preset**
3. Give your preset a name (e.g., "High Priority Projects")
4. Access saved presets from the sidebar or filter menu
5. Edit or delete saved presets from the filter management area

## Sorting

### Sort Options

You can sort your dashboard by various criteria:

#### Common Sort Options

* **Name (A-Z)** — Alphabetical order
* **Date Created** — Newest or oldest first
* **Date Modified** — Recently updated items first
* **Status** — Grouped by status type
* **Priority** — High to low or low to high
* **Team Member** — Alphabetical by assigned person
* **Custom Fields** — Sort by any custom field

### How to Sort

1. Look for the **Sort** button or **Columns** menu (usually near the top-right)
2. Click to see available sort options
3. Select your desired sort method
4. Click the sort button again to reverse the sort order (ascending/descending)
5. The current sort is typically indicated by an icon (↑ ↓) next to the sort field name

### Multi-Level Sorting

For advanced organization, some dashboards allow multi-level sorting:

1. Set your primary sort (e.g., Status)
2. Click **Add Secondary Sort** or similar option
3. Choose a secondary sort field (e.g., Due Date)
4. Items are sorted first by the primary criteria, then by secondary

## Combining Search, Filters, and Sorting

For maximum efficiency, you can combine all three:

1. **Search** to narrow by keywords
2. **Filter** to focus on specific categories
3. **Sort** to arrange results in your preferred order

**Example**: Search for "downtown", filter by Status = "In Progress", then sort by "Due Date" to see active downtown projects in chronological order.

## View Preferences

### Changing Display Options

1. Click the **View** menu or layout icons (usually near the top)
2. Select your preferred view:
   * **List View** — Compact, scrollable list
   * **Grid View** — Card-based display
   * **Table View** — Column-based with detailed info
3. Your preference is typically saved for future visits

### Customizing Columns (Table View)

If using table view, customize which columns display:

1. Click the **Columns** or **Customize View** button
2. Check/uncheck columns to show/hide
3. Drag columns to reorder them
4. Click **Apply** to save your layout

## Tips and Best Practices

* **Use Saved Filters** — Create filters for your most common views to save time
* **Combine Criteria** — Use multiple filters together for powerful results
* **Regular Updates** — Keep your filter presets updated as your needs change
* **Share Views** — Some dashboards allow you to share filter presets with team members
* **Export Results** — After filtering, you can often export the results to CSV or Excel
* **Sort Consistency** — Set a consistent sort order to help teams stay synchronized
