# Managing Coverage Assignments

> Edit territories, change rep assignments, and manage coverage right from the Teams Page.

## Editing Territories

An Org Admin can reopen the **Classify Territories** modal at any time from the Coverage Assignment page to rename territories or reassign states.

Two things to know:

* **Assignments are preserved.** Removing or renaming a territory does not delete existing rep assignments — they're kept and re-mapped when the updated territories are applied.
* **The counter keeps you honest.** Apply stays disabled while any states are unassigned, so you can't accidentally leave part of the country uncovered by a territory definition.

***

## Changing Rep Assignments

All rep changes happen directly in the brand grids on the Coverage Assignment page:

* **Add a rep** — click **+ Add Rep** in a cell and pick from the dropdown (searchable; lists only that brand's Brand Managers and Brand Reps not already in the cell).
* **Remove a rep** — click the **✕** on their chip. Removal applies to that cell only.
* **Overflow cells** — when a cell has more reps than fit inline, the chips truncate and a **See More** toggle appears. Expand it to view the full list.

Changes persist immediately and survive reload.

## Managing Coverage from the Teams Page

You don't have to leave the Team Dashboard to adjust a member's coverage. The Members table includes a **Coverage Assignment** column showing each member's assigned territories as chips.

From a member's row, a manager can:

* **Add a territory** — open the inline selector and pick one. The selector lists only territories not already on that member; if none remain, it shows **"No territories to add."**
* **Remove a territory** — click the chip's **✕**.

The column stays in sync with the Coverage Assignment page in both directions: adding a territory here reflects there, and removing a territory here **clears that member's rep assignments for it** on the Coverage Assignment page.

**Column behavior:**

| Situation                                             | What you see                                                                  |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Member has no territories | An empty state on that row |
| Territories exceed the column width | Chips truncate with a **See More** toggle |
| Member was the only rep on a territory + product line | Removing the territory leaves that cell empty on the Coverage Assignment page |

The column only applies to Brand Manager and Brand Rep rows on coverage-enabled brands, and follows the same permissions as the main page: Org Admins edit across all brands, Brand Managers edit within their managed brands, and everyone else sees the column read-only.

<Warning>
  Removing a territory from a member's row is not cosmetic — it clears their rep assignments for that territory. If they were the only rep covering a cell, that cell will be left empty until someone reassigns it.
</Warning>

## Permissions Recap

| Role | Coverage Assignment page | Teams Page column | Classify Territories |
| ------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------- | ------------------------------- | -------------------- |
| **Org Admin**                        | Edit all brands                       | Edit all rows                   | ✅                    |
| **Brand Manager** | Edit managed brands; others read-only | Edit rows within managed brands | ❌ |
| **Brand Rep / Org Viewer / No role** | Read-only                             | Read-only                       | ❌                    |

Permissions are enforced server-side as well — an edit outside your scope is rejected even if a control appears interactive.

## Troubleshooting

| Issue                                        | What to do                                                                                                                                                                                                             |
| -------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Classify Territories is disabled** | Only Org Admins can classify territories. Ask an Org Admin to set them up or adjust them. |
| **A brand's grid is read-only for you** | You're not a Brand Manager on that brand (or an Org Admin). Check your role on the [Team Dashboard](/partner-help-center/team-management/understanding-your-team-dashboard). |
| **A rep isn't in the + Add Rep dropdown** | The dropdown lists only Brand Managers and Brand Reps on that brand who aren't already in the cell. Org Admins, Org Viewers, and AECO-Invited Reps aren't assignable — change the member's brand role first if needed. |
| **Dropdown shows "No Reps to add"** | Every eligible rep is already assigned to that cell. |
| **Apply is disabled in the territory modal** | Some states are still unassigned (the footer count shows how many, in orange), or no territory has a state yet. |
