# Understanding Manufacturer Roles: Admin vs. Rep

> Know who can do what before you start inviting your team.

Manufacturer teams on Acelab now use a two-tier role model: **organization-level roles** that apply across your whole organization, and **brand-level roles** that apply per brand you manage. Understanding both is the difference between someone getting the access they need on the right brand and being locked out (or over-permissioned).

<Note>
  If your organization only manages a single brand, most teammates will have one brand role and no org-level role. That's normal. Only Org Admins operate at the organization level day-to-day.
</Note>

***

## The Two Layers

Every teammate has:

* **An organization role** — `Org Admin`, `Org Viewer` (coming soon), or **no org role** (called "Member" internally). Most reps and managers have no org role.
* **Brand access** — one role per brand they're assigned to: `Brand Manager`, `Brand Rep`, or `AECO-Invited Rep`.

Org Admins automatically have access to every brand in the org, so you don't need to assign them a brand role.

***

## Organization Roles

### Org Admin

The organization owner. Every org needs at least one Org Admin. Org Admins can:

* Invite new members (with any role).
* Assign teammates to brands and change their brand role.
* Promote a teammate to Org Admin or downgrade an Admin to no-role.
* Remove members from a brand or delete accounts entirely.
* Manage coverage territories.
* Access every brand's dashboards (Accounts, Projects, Conversations) regardless of brand assignment.

Org Admins are typically a sales VP, marketing director, or whoever owns the Acelab relationship for the company.

<Tip>
  If you're the only Org Admin, promote a teammate before you leave the account. An org with no Admin cannot invite, remove, or reassign members.
</Tip>

### Org Viewer (coming soon)

Read-only visibility into every brand. Useful for executive or finance stakeholders who need to see the pipeline without acting on it. This role is disabled in the UI today and will roll out in a future update.

### No Org Role (Member)

The default for anyone who is not an Org Admin or Viewer. Members have **only the brand roles they're explicitly assigned**. They see only the brands they've been added to.

## Brand Roles

Brand roles are assigned per brand. A teammate can be a Brand Manager on Brand A and a Brand Rep on Brand B, or have access to only one brand.

### Brand Manager

Full control over one brand. Brand Managers can:

* View and work every Account and Project on the brand.
* Manage every Conversation on the brand.
* Add existing org members to the brand and assign them a brand role.
* Change brand roles on the brand.

Brand Managers can only act on brands they manage. They do not have organization-wide permissions.

### Brand Rep

The day-to-day operator on a brand. Brand Reps can:

* View and work Accounts and Projects (including inline Stage / Status / Priority edits, notes, favorites, and archive).
* Reply to Conversations.
* Use proxy email introductions if the brand is on a paid plan.

Brand Reps cannot invite new members, add existing members to the brand, or change roles.

### AECO-Invited Rep

A rep who was invited to the brand by an architecture firm rather than by your organization. AECO-Invited Reps appear in a separate **AECO-Invited Reps** tab of the Team Dashboard. They have limited, firm-scoped access: they only see engagement from the architecture firm(s) that invited them.

AECO-Invited Reps can't be created from your Team Dashboard invite flow. They only appear after an architecture firm engages them.

An Org Admin, or a Brand Manager on the same brand, can promote an AECO-Invited Rep to a Brand Manager or Brand Rep.

## Brand Status Affects What You Can Do

Adding or inviting a member to a brand also depends on the brand's status. Paid-tier statuses are **Paid**, **Trial**, and **Extended Access**. Brands with the status **AECO-Invited** or **Lapsed** are locked: you cannot add or invite members until the brand is upgraded to a paid plan. In the Team Dashboard sidebar, locked brands show a warning icon and an upgrade tooltip.

## Assigning and Changing Roles

Only Org Admins can change a teammate's org role. Brand Managers can change brand roles on brands they manage. Anyone else sees the role pills as read-only.

Role changes take effect immediately.

* **Downgrading an Org Admin to no-role** — if the Admin owns active leads or conversations, you'll be asked to transfer them to another owner before the change completes.
* **Removing a member from a brand** — same lead / conversation transfer flow applies.
* **Deleting an account** — you'll be asked to transfer leads and conversations for every brand the member is on.
