When to Request Expert Product Recommendations

Expert product recommendations are useful when:
  • You need specialized guidance on product selections
  • You want to validate your product choice
  • You’re looking for alternatives based on specific criteria
  • You have specific project requirements that need expert consideration
There are two ways to request product recommendations from Acelab’s experts:
  1. From Schedules (i.e. your Library or a Project Schedule)
  2. From SpecPlanner

Request Product Recommendation from Schedules

  • Navigate to a Project, General Research, or Firm Library
  • Select Schedules from the left-side menu
  • Click +Add Product
  • Select Request Recommendation
  • Select the product category you need recommendations for
  • Include a message with details about your request
    • Tell us what your specific needs and criteria are, the more details the better

  • Navigate to SpecPlanner
  • Hover over the + sign next to the section you need recommendations for
  • Click Add Products
  • Select Request Recommendation
  • Select the product category you need recommendations for
  • Include a message with details about your request
    • Tell us what your specific needs and criteria are, the more details the better

How We Evaluate and Vet Product Recommendations

Our process is grounded in real-world experience and a consistent research methodology. Every request is reviewed by our internal research team, which includes licensed architects, project managers, and construction administrators with over 50 years of combined experience across a range of project types. We evaluate products through multiple lenses to ensure recommendations are practical, credible, and aligned with project goals. Our approach typically includes:
  • Professional Experience. Products we have specified, detailed, or worked with directly in traditional practice.
  • Established manufacturer relationships. Manufacturers we have existing relationships with allow us to validate product data and identify local technical reps.
  • Internal product database. Searches across Acelab’s internal database of 100,000+ live products, supported by our AI Co-Pilot to identify comparable options based on initial request.
  • Supplemental external research. Select use of external AI tools, online research, and manufacturer websites to fill gaps, validate product requirements, or identify emerging products when appropriate.
This layered approach allows us to balance experience-driven insight with visibility into both established and emerging product options.
Tip: If you have a specific manufacturer or product you’d like us to evaluate, include it in your request, and we will review it alongside comparable options.

What Happens After You Submit a Request?

  • You’ll receive a confirmation email immediately
  • An Acelab expert will review your request
  • Once confirmed, they will open an online conversation
  • You may access the conversation from the Conversations button on the left-side menu, or the message icon on the top right-hand corner.
  • You’ll receive personalized product recommendations with detailed explanations and alternative options if applicable

  • Be as specific as possible in your additional requirements
  • Include any relevant project constraints or special considerations
  • Mention preferred manufacturers or certification requirements
