Inserting a Smart Field
- Open a Smart Doc and select the page you want to edit.
- In the left rail, open the Smart Fields drawer.
- Switch between the Identity, Project, and Product tabs to find the field.
- Click the + next to a field, or drag it onto the canvas.
- Use the Field Properties Panel on the right to adjust label, format, and styling.
Identity Fields
Identity fields resolve to your company’s data. They’re the same across every project and every product in every document your firm produces. Use Identity fields for content that represents your firm on a deliverable:- Company name
- Company address
- Company phone number
- Company email
- Company website
- Company logo
Project Fields
Project fields resolve to the current project’s data. They change from one project to the next, but stay the same across every page of a Smart Doc within that project. Use Project fields for content that identifies the project on a deliverable:- Project name
- Project number
- Project address
- Client name
- Project team members
- Project dates
- Any custom project fields your firm has defined
Some Project fields are marked “Coming Soon” and aren’t available yet. Available Project fields insert as normal.
Product Fields
Product fields resolve to the data on a specific product. Unlike Identity and Project fields, Product fields are context-aware: the value depends on which product’s page you’re on inside a Reference Binder. Common Product fields:- Manufacturer
- Product name
- Model number
- Product image
- Finish
- Lead time
- Warranty
- Section (MasterFormat)
- Any custom product fields defined on the schedule
How Product Fields Resolve
- Inside a Reference Binder: each page in the binder is bound to one product row from the linked schedule. Product fields on that page resolve to that row’s values. Page 1 shows page 1’s product, page 2 shows page 2’s product, and so on.
- On a Loose Page or in a Custom Binder: Product fields don’t have a per-page product context. You’ll be prompted to pick a specific product to bind the field to.
- If a product is missing a value for a Product field, the field renders empty on that product’s page.
Formatting and Styling Fields
Select any inserted field to open the Field Properties Panel on the right. From there you can:- Change font, size, weight, color, and alignment.
- Show or hide the field label.
- Set a fallback value to display when the source field is empty.
- For image fields (like Product Image, Company Logo), set size, fit, and aspect ratio.
